Weeks Bridge

Even though there has little action here on my blog, it doesn't mean there's been no action in my studio. Life has a way of sweeping me along in its wake now and then and the past year has been one of those times.

This painting is a commission I took on last month of Weeks Bridge in Massachusetts. What in the world I was thinking is beyond me, but it is done and delivered. Whew!

Wearing Her Green Skirt

Up in Navajo country lies some of my favorite county in the Southwest. Buttes and bluffs, dramatic light and deep, dark shadows always tug at me. I've been enjoying working on this piece over the past couple of weeks and loving the luminous characteristics of watercolors. I'm a desert girl to the bones.

Gouache in the Valley of the Gods

We took a little jaunt through Southern Utah and Colorado this summer. I can't even begin to describe the beauty and wonders we saw, but I can say that it could influence what I paint for years!  Here's a little gouache piece of the Valley of the Gods in Utah. Again, too dark, but I keep trying. One day...

Gouache Practice

Painting with gouache is still difficult, but I keep trying. Recently, I tried the same subject twice for practice. It's still darker than I'd like, but I felt I learned from them.

Not masterpieces, but better than past efforts. And fun to do. A delightful, maddening medium.

Since November??

Yeah, it's been since November that I posted here. Time flies sometimes, and the past 8 months or so have really flown by. However, I haven't been totally idle creatively. Here's a little piece I did in May that brings me joy.
